I switched my 1995 175 2-stroke with a 2014 f150 4-stroke. After connecting the new outboard to the command link system the tach is blank. It does not look like it is on. The fuel and speed gauges are on and functioning correctly.

The diagnostic functions display the error codes on the tach. Since the tach does not show anything I do not want to try to use diagnostic mode.

Everything worked fine prior to installing the new f150. does the command system tach need to be reset? Could it be that the tach has gone bad?

Check the back of the gauge for switches. The gauge may need to be reconfigured. I will look for the documentation

The gauge needs to be configured for the motor.

I forgot to ask. When you turn on the ignition, does the gauge go through the self test mode where all LCD segments are cycled on and off?

Following up.
The tach is not a command link. it is prior version. there are only 2 switches. one for 6 pole and one for 12 pole.
The tach does not show anything. it is completely blank. the other three, digital speedometer and fuel management, do come on and show something.

The tach is 6y5-2818r0-30. My first step is going to see if it even has power. It should as it had worked previously. Before I go further on diagnostic, is this compatible with the newer four stroke engine?

If no display on power up, it either has no power, no ground, or is shot ( less likely)
