Seems the same as most others to me.
What issues are you running into?

Yes, my first instinct was to just say it was you, but then you’d have been right!

GG. Had been phenomenally helpful to me. Would love to give back

Not sure if you are trolling or serious. GreatGrady is one of the best boating related forums out there. People are welcoming, polite, nice, and know a ton. It's literally the best forum I've been on and I've been on truck forums, gun forums, motorcycle forums, fishing forums, photography forums, wood working forums, to name a few. The Duramax forum is a close second. Most forums are poorly run, they get overrun with know it all assholes who make the forum a crappy place. There is none of that here.

I made a post a few years back with a few "updates" that I had suggested, which promptly got shut down rather quickly, aka almost as soon as I made the post. I agree to an extent with a few things, especially with regards to uploading pictures, different categories of the forum, the search function and so forth. Most of the time, the pictures you upload have to be reduced in size so much that the quality of them can suffer, as well as they just leave you with small pictures that some might struggle to see. If you're linking other sites like Amazon or eBay that have very long links to them, the website here doesn't usually recognize them and it just leaves a blue link as opposed to the nicer, formatted version. It seems like it's also impossible to add videos on here, which isn't a huge issue since you can just copy and paste a YouTube link to the post instead. I think my biggest "issues" with the website would be that yes, it definitely does seem a bit dated, kind of similar in looks or appearance to the Vintage Mustang forum that I've been with since the early to mid 2000's. Though it is really nice that the GG forum doesn't have a ton of advertisements like THT or other forums, which is nice. The other big "issue" that I have would be with regards to the number of different forums and clubs on here. There are 10 different Grady White clubs and then 6 different forums and it just seems like way too many options for people when they're newer to the site and not sure where they should post their comments or threads. I generally always recommend that people post the majority of everything they want to in the "General Discussion" section of the forum as it seems to get the most traffic.

But a lot of people post elsewhere like in the "Tips, Modifications and Electronics" section of the forum, or even in their own specific regional forum. Which again, I don't think that we really need 10 different Grady White club forums and think that people could likely post all of that in either the General Discussion portion of the forum, or if they had 1 general Grady White club forum, not 10. Same goes for the regular portions of the forum in that you've got 6 of those, and the General Discussion as well as the Tips, Modifications and Electronics and the "For Sale/Wanted" sections seem to be the most viewed. Of which again, I think that the Tips, Modifications and Electronics section could easily be added into the General discussion part of the forum as people wouldn't have to search the entirety of the site to see all of the new posts on here. The "Grady White Gatherings", "Photo Section" and "Fishing Reports" though I think could all be combined into the General Discussion portion as well. So, if it were me... I would have a General Discussion section and a For Sale/Wanted section as the only two current options for the Great Grady Forums, and then I thought it would be fun to add an "Open Forum" that could be used for talking about other topics besides fishing and boating. Obviously nothing like religion, politics or so forth... but things like people's lives outside of fishing such as maybe other hobbies or sports that they do, some cooking recipes would be fantastic imo, etc. And then in regards to the Grady White Clubs, I'd honestly just delete all of those posts as most are years old, or combine them all into one Grady White Club, add them to the General Discussion, etc. So yes, a few "frustrations" about the site, a few forum members that have needed to be blocked or ignored, though nothing worth losing sleep over.

In my experience it’s quite good compared to other similar sites. What’s crappy, the search function, the advice…….?

I'm not going to waste much time on this reply. I'm not an administrator-just a concerned responder who tries to help. What seems to be the problem?

You've been a member for 4 years and you've managed to work in 23 messages in that time. Pretty much going with "It's You"

Feel free to move along to THT, they will welcome you with open arms.

For me the GG forum has been a "band of brothers" with ease to navigate and so much focused help. I believe there is an option for you which involves the positive ..... find for yourself a Grady forum that for you appears less "crappy and complicated". Good Luck!

I’m amazed with the detailed knowledge across a breadth of subjects dispensed with respect absent ridicule.

Better than most but everyone in boating has issues (a rational human would not flush the amount of jing we do into the sea!). Better than gambling, loose women, smoking and drinking I guess!

Not so sure about the reference to loose women.

That's probably the best reply I've seen in years to an initial post like the first one. I like the honesty! :)

But to answer your question... I guess I don't think much about it. It's a place to ask questions, respond and ocassionally some good-natured banter. Beyond that... I honestly don't care if it's "up to date" or if it has fancy gizmos, gadgets and whatsits... all I care about are the discussions.
