I just bought a 95 226 Seafarer and I've been spending the last week cleaning it and figuring out the ins and outs.
One thing that has me confused is the water system. There diagrams I pulled off of Gradys site show a fauct on the port side but I don't see one. I don't see anything that looks like one was removed either. Unless its in a spot where I can't see it, its not there. I do have a water hook up that goes to a pump and then, I'm guessing, goes to a water tank in front of the fuel tank since I don't have stern drive.
Is a wash down standard on 1995 Gradys? If not whats the point of a fresh water tank? I have no sink or shower. Is it for filling the live wells? I don't know why you would need a fresh water tank for that though...

Any help would be welcome,

thanks

Sounds like you have FW washdown.
SW wasdown may be optional. Both may be optional, check options list on Grady site catalog for 95's.
Many times owners don't like holes in hull so avoid it, SW washdown requires hole in hull, not so with FW washdown.

water system

On my '92 228 there is a fresh water tank aft of the amidship fuel tank (translucent plastic). The spicket (sp?) is on the starboard side. On the port side is the salt (raw) water spicket. Under the rocket launcher on the livewell is the handle for the "Y" valve diverting raw water to either the washdown or the livewell. Rocker switch at the helm turns the pump on.

Yes, if you have a 228 you would have the freshwater tank at the rear of fuel tank. Mine is not a bracket boat so its somewhere ahead of the fuel tank.
I have the hook up and tank for a fresh water wash down but do not have the faucet for some reason. A washdown is an option for a 95 but I don't understand why it would have the hook up, pump, and tank but no tap or faucet. The owner before also took off the backsplash on the transom. Maybe he also removed the wash down faucet for some reason. Strange.

Freshwater cockpit shower and gunwale (port) mounted freshwater faucet were both options on your boat. The faucet probably couldn't be had w/out the shower because the tank was associated w/ the shower according to the '95 catalog.

Your water hook-up is most likely for the raw water washdown system, also an option. It runs to the pump and then to a thru-hull in the bottom of the boat.

The manual probably shows every option (even if not installed) just because it was easier to print one version for all boats.
