Considering a 282 Sailfish vs a Marlin 300, ideas?

This one failed survey. Delam over a 10’ x 4’ section of starboard mid ship. The wife and I are super bummed and back on the hunt for another one. Today’s our anniversary and we are a bit disappointed.
What was delaminated. Gonna be on a hunt for one in the future and would like to know the flaw spots to look for.

Fiberglass on mid hull starboard side 10’x4’ area and a little around port side of upper cabin seam. Surveyor said he’s done approximately 100 sailfish over the years and first time he’s seen anything like this. Of course it has to be on the one I fell in love with.

The running surface bottom of the boat? Or the sides?

Hey guys, I bought the boat listed above (sale pending) it is absolutely beautiful. I am getting it fully detailed and a few more electronics before bringing down to south jersey Friday. The nameless boat will now be “Strike Zone”. I had to put an offer on it 3 hours after it was posted

Very nice and jealous lol. 250 with the variable timing is the right power for that boat. I’m down in tuckerton maybe I’ll see you out there. Also I highly advise this winter sealing under the bang plate transom cap.

Is that done with the motors on? What is the recommended material, depends on what is entailed I will ask them to do it this week before I move it to jersey

Look at my previous thread about doing mine 05 and my dads 07. Yes have to pull motors. Then transom will last forever. Grady’s weak spot.

Congratulations on your new boat. I saw that one and it looks amazing but you already had it locked up. I am looking at one of my back up boats but haven’t heard back from them yet.

As for my failed survey the surveyor said 4’ tall section below the rub line mid ship completely delaminated. His worry is that he’s never seen this and it also registered high on the moisture meter. He suspects moisture got i glass and then froze causing delam. Seller says his glass guy that does salvage said it is just wet floatation foam that needs to be dug out and resprayed. Surveyor said if you take a good side hit from a wave expect to be using the life raft. He did reiterate that this is absolutely atypical of the sailfish. It did also have some other delamination around the cabin that is more typical. It was also noted that otherwise the boat is gorgeous but the possibility of sinking is worth running from it. I had my road trip all planned out as well as my first tuna trip the first weekend of August. Looks like that trip will be on my best friends Trophy instead. Still going so I can’t complain!
