I am looking at a 88 Grady 22ft.. We enjoy not only fishing but crabbing.. Any one done and crabbing off their Grady? I am curious if the sides are to high to reach over to grab a Pot line..

We used to use a 87 WellCraft V-Step and the side were good..

Also, anyone rig anything up to run a trout line off their grady? Thanks Guys!

We crabbed off our 22, still do off our 265 from time to time. Use a boat pole, that is what the pro's so around us to grab lines anyways, gives you better reach ans keeps your body in the boat, not hanging half over, much safer.

Seafarer is a great boat to pull pots from. I installed an Electradyne on mine. Might be overkill but I love it as it allows me to pull 10 pots in the time it used to take to pull 5. Good Luck,

You cant set pots on the Chesapeake as a recreational crabber.

Trot line is OK.. You might want to google trot line on and see some of the set ups.. Around here, if you get a pole with a roller made of pvc pipe extended horizontally from the boat, you can just idle down the line and pull up the trot line as you go. That is more or less how the watermen do it . You can set up to 30 traps I believe.. Check the Md DNR regulations.
They might not actually be published for 2009 yet.. They are in a state of flux re: licensing.

You can certainly use collapsable traps...
