DEK it flooring

Anyone have input on DEKit boat floor covering? Cost? Benefits? Drawbacks?
(i.e. Do i have to worry about water getting underneath and mold?)

Investigate the adhesive and what residue remains if you take it up in the future. Some of the stuff leaves a lot of residue which means you'll likely need to install a product like it again if ever pulled up.

Yep,
that is the reason i don't ant to use any glued on flooring on my boat and there are some/many who had a total disaster after a short time, also from very well known brands.

If you look here: https://marineflooring.net/gallery/ my 228 is the 8th picture. The product is sort of "spun" plastic, very cushy with a sticky (but not glued) bottom side. I did two pieces, a T shaped one that goes in the helm and the walkway between the helm seats, the other is more or less a cock pit sized rectangle, shaped a little to go around my baitwell and the fish boxes.

I take it out of my boat after each trip and wash it. I'm 62 and not that fit and I have no problem taking it out or putting it back. I have not had problems with fish guts sticking in there, they wash out. I have learned to not use a pressure washer, that breaks little pieces off. So I just use a hose.

I love this stuff, it's one of the best upgrades I've done. And at $1300 for my boat, *way* cheaper than the $7000 quote I got for SeaDeck.

Great input. I like that it can be removed for cleaning. What color did you go with? Does the stuff get dirty?

I just ordered some 1/4” horse stall mat that I’m going to attempt to cover with sea deck material, as I would like to be able to remove it after each trip for cleaning. My current mat is black rubber and it bleeds and creates a mess.

All the tips are very helpful. I agree that having something permanent risks unseen damage below on the gelcoat etc. i like the idea of having something that is elevated off the floor so water could drain underneath and could easily be removed and replaced. The search continues. . . Thanks again folks.

I linked to an actual picture of what I installed, so the color is there. If I were to do it again, I'd go with a more neutral tan/brown color, the black gets hot. Not enough of an issue that I changed it out, it's fine.

It catches little pieces of grass if I leave it on the driveway after washing it. So I tend to wash it and then turn it upside down.

All in all, it works great.
