I'm pretty sure my overboard hose is 1". It's 1 1/8" or 1 1/4" coming off my Jabsco pump. The Groco was 1".
I like that the Whale pump is a diaphragm type. Not sure it can macerate though and pushing it out a small diameter hose concerns me. I didn't like the mounting either where I had to put it.
Also, I have pumped the my holding tank out at the dock and dumped in the house. I pull the macerator output and have a spare hose for the 5-gallon bucket. Easy and clean to do.
I've mentioned it before - in a State like Florida in the Florida Keys with a delicate reef environment I could only find one public pumpout in a 15 mile radius (and it was broken). I think this is a nice option to have if you are traveling with your boat.
If you do go this way spend the money on the silicone hoses. They seal better and can be taken apart without destroying their sealing ability. Any air leaks will not create enough vacuum to lift the solids in the tank.
