Wondering where I can go to get a primer on electronics 101? Familiar on surface but am lost with all the new stuff out there Thx!

YouTube videos can be your friend. Someone somewhere has probably made a video of your unit and it's operations. Might give it a look.

Youtube as stated, each manufacturer site has vids, manuals worked best for me.

Most of the major equipment vendors have videos on their sites. Lowrance does hour long webinars every now and then and has them available for replay on their site. Some are basic and others are more specific.
Many of the MFDs out there have similar functionality but the vendors may call it by different names.
In general the more that a similar sized MFD costs, the more function/processing power it has. The biggest factor in pricing is screen size and resolution.
Search you tube and the like, there is a ton of info.

Take a look at those Lowrance videos where they compare their units to other unbranded MFDs....helps you learn about all of the features and how others perform.

Start going through the Marine Electronic Forum at THT. Weed through the crap but a wealth of knowlege over there if you spend the time.

Furuno just did a series of videos that best describes the differences in each of the latest and greatest models from 4 major brands. I believe there's 6 videos out now and are an easy series to watch. Granted they are a bit furuno biased, but it gives you a good idea of each brand. Just Google it on YouTube and it should come up.
