Hello all- I'm in the process of purchasing a new 2018 Seafarer-228. I've been trying to browse the forums for pictures on how everyone is mounting their electronics on the latest Grady console. I got the dimensions from Grady and there isn't a whole lot of room based on the dimensions. I want to mount two Garmin units. One is an 8" display and the other is a 10" display. Anyone who might have pictures with the current Grady console, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Congrats on your purchase!!

The e-box looks to be the same as its been since about 2001....so assuming that's the case, you can fit one 12" screen easily, or 2 7" screens.

KY Grady has 2 HDS-7's in his...he probably has a pic or two he can post....

Thanks for the reply. My Garmins will measure 12.5" x 7.3" and the second one will measure 11.5" x 7.4". I don't know if that includes the bracket... The specs don't specify. Would anyone know if I can squeeze them into the box given those dimensions? Thank you.

Gradylover: Specs "typically" are just the unit, not the bracket. Download the manual/installation instructions and they will have detailed dimensions.

Wavetamer: You don't mention your boat model or have it listed in your signature so we have no idea if you have the same model boat as the OP, or not. If you don't, start a new thread. Also, please read back through your posts as they are very hard to understand what you are saying/asking. Add more words/punctuation and/or a better description. For example... what does this mean: "been looking for ideas also would like to get to Garmin's side by side and leave the lockable hatch and ideas would be greatly appreciated". Also, it's always good to include a picture so anyone not familiar with your exact setup can help.

Think he has 228. I sent him a PM, I'll send some pics of my setup to see if he can use the ideas.

Can you share the pics? I too am looking at leaving the "stock" look and doing 2 742xs side by side within the existing compartment hatch on my Sailfish 25

Let me see if this works. Sorry if it's big.

Speaker locations. The inspection ports were from PO, just put fresh speakers in. The box speakers, I put in for sound inside enclosure, tucked up under and work well.

My Grady dealer flush-mounted my Garmin for me quite a few years ago. I'm really happy with the work they did.

Using the radio box cover as the guide, they cut starboard to match and beveled the edge very nicely. The new piece fit in perfectly, and they added some a screw at each corner and a bead of caulk. The radio is a 'black box' style mounted in the cabin with all controls on the mic. The four screws above the starboard simply fill the leftover holes from the hinges of the radio box cover. Since this photo, I have added an iPhone mount to the left of the Garmin.
