I have a 282 sailfish and while doing maintenance I noticed 2 of the "rivets" that hold the track for the vinyl enclosure had popped or broke off from the aluminum hardtop piping. Anyone have an idea on how to fix this?
You can get stainless rivets if the aluminum don’t hold. Can always drill out and go slightly bigger. The rivet should be snug going in. Stainless rivets- you might need a better quality rivet gun and smear tefgel between dissimilar metals to prevent galvanic corrosion. Aluminum on aluminum should be fine.Just wanted to update and say thanks. It was the easiest fix I've come across in while. Like you said. Get the tool, use aluminum rivet. Simple. Worked like a charm!
