anybody know the price of a pair of yamaha f-250 engine covers
tony

Last year on my shakedown, dealer rep said to be REAL careful removing the cowling at sea. $1200 to replace - (per). Don't quite know if he was just trying to make his point or not ... I think i'd burn a few tanks of air doing search and rescue.

wow????? no I'am sorry I ment the soft covers I want to get a pair for my new 250's

Tony,
Just curious... Why are you considering the covers? You can't run with them installed - correct? Just trying to keep the hard covers out of the elements?

Any Yamaha dealer will have or can order. Approx $75- $85 each. Definently worth it they help protect crisscrossed stern dock lines from rubbing on engines covers.

Buy them from Andy at SIM. He has them in stock and its around $65 dollars each. Hes very good at getting them to you fast.

Go to www.thehulltruth.com Andy is a vendor overthere he has good deals on most everything with yamaha. He has a vendor thread there. Send him a pm for a quote.

That's interesting, the splash covers are meant for mooring as well as running.

I guess this summer will be the first time I see a motor in operation with a cover on it.

Green Canvas Covers

Available at Cabelas. Nice heavy-weight canvas. Won't eat up your fuel allowance.

Are these ok for running? I would assume these would insulate the motor to some degree and elevate the temperature of the motor.

I have them for my boat, they came from the original owner's so I am unsure fo the price but $75 seems about right. They are not used when running, it will block the air intake in the back and starve the engine for air, they are used for storage to keep the engines out of the elements, my cowlings look brand new and shine. I put them on unless I will be down the next day, otherwise I use them to keep them in top shape, I know many cowlings lose their shine and color from sitting outside year after year so this is a ncie touch, plus they look nice on the engines.

No these canvas covers would definitely not be suitable for cruising.

wish I had bought these

My boat floats on the water behind my house, so its sort of in a worst case scenario. I didnt even know these covers existed. Trust me you should get these. After 8 years, my engine cover tops are blistering, and really embarrassing looking considering the rest of the boat is cherry. I have looked into spot paint for these and it does not exist. apparently the paint color is mixed only in Japan.

If they look that bad I bet you could get new decals from Yamaha and have a body shop shoot a color that would be real close. Just an idea for you to consider.
