I bought a GW with a 225 "Saltwater Series" engine. This saltwater series logo is printed on the engine. Year is 1998. Is this an OX66? If it is HPDI, does it say "HPDI" on the engine cover?

Sorry for these questions, but I am buying the boat and the broker says that the owner does not have the operator's handbook for the engine. Thanks in advance. I'd like to start buying filters, plugs, water pumps, etc and I need to know which model it is. JF

It is not an HPDI if it says saltwater series. The HPDI and Yamaha are the only badges on the cowling. There was a saltwater series, a saltwater Series II that replaced that model, and then there was an OX66. If it was an OX66, it will state it below where it says Saltwater Series II on the cowling I believe. The broker should be able to answer that question for you, otherwise he/she is not very knowledgeable or they know the answer and are trying to avoid answering for some reason. Their job is to have a basic knowledge of the boats they sell and to answer your questions, if they cannot do that I'd be a little cautious of them.

OX66. Look at the black label on the front of the cowling. It should say "OX66 Fuel Injection". If not, someone switched cowlings on you or it's a pre'97 motor.

Here's my '98 225s.
