exhaust seal

like my previous post about batteries(which worked out great thanks to you all)I don't recall the direction this seal goes in. Its the exhaust seal between lower and upper unit.One side has a groove in it other side is tapered.Im thinking tapered side goes down towards prop.Interesting thing is I checked a few youtube videos and they are put in differently .Could it not matter which direction?the seal sits fine either way.Anyway thanks as usual

you' are right sorry 2000 yamaha 200 hpdi. i did that and boats.net show groove up but other sites show groove down just trying to confirm while still on land thanks
