Finally Installed The Bow Pulpit With A Few Mods.

Finally found time to install the new bow pulpit on my 228. The pulpit is for a 228 ( made of coosa board these days) but I took it to a fibreglass shop to get a slot cut to take a 232 thru-pulpit bow roller and fill the groove where the 228 bow roller goes. Very happy with the job they did. Let’s me carry a second anchor with hopefully less chance of bashing my head when it is hitched to the tow vehicle and most importantly I just prefer the more compact look. It was a pretty easy job even by myself. A second set of hands would have been helpful at times though.

Can you describe the mounting method ( backing plate, washers, etc and how you gained access to the mountings? I assume the mounting is just the 4 bolts. Are the cleats mounted only to the new pulpit and are that mounted with screws or bolts with backings?

It looks very nice and I like the long SS rub plate. Was that part of the pulpit kit?

The mounting is just the 4 x 10mm diameter bolts. They come with very substantial washers. See photo. Access was through the anchor well door. There was also a cartridge of 5200 supplied. I used the entire tube under the pulpit. The cleat is bolted through the pulpit and the bow with large backing washers. I bought 100mm bolts which were just long enough. The rub plate wasn’t part of the kit.

That looks amazing great job. Have you put the boat in the water and retrieved it back on the trailer? The anchor roller coming down from the pulpit might interfere with the trailer roller near the winch.

It would never work on mine, as some of the ramps I frequent, I barely clear my anchor now,,, couldn't imagine trying to get off the trailer with the anchor hanging below that.

My normal ramp (90% of the time) has a fairly shallow angle so that should be fine. On steeper ramps where the stern floats quite a bit I may have to drop the roller.
