Went and picked up my boat from Hanckel Marine in Charleston today with my new F250xcb installed. So far, just have the 1st hour done on the break in. Tomorrow, power up to plane, then variable speed to maintain plane for an hour, then 3rd through 10th hour, any speed, avoid full throttle for more than 5 minutes at a time. Looking forward to tomorrow and more time with it.
The FBW is butter smooth, very impressed so far. Very nice motor.

Good luck with it. You have been waiting a long time for this engine.

KY, what a great fit. Is the pod and swim grid custom or a Grady design on that year. You do keep a tidy yacht!

Drive and swim platform are factory Grady. I added the gray SeaDek to it last summer.

The SeaDek looks good.

I hate the way it looks when people go crazyyyyyy with it.

Looks very nice. Did you stay with the second hole on the bracket?

No,,, went 3rd hole. Ran it today and saw 5800 rpm, 44 mph against the current with full enclosure going into the wind. Turn around and coming back with wind and current, full enclosure, 5900 and 51mph.
3 blade Yamaha SS prop. 15 1/2 x 17.

Now it's like it should have come out of Greenville..............So tidy!

Congrats Sir;

Glad it’s performing well.

I don’t have to ask why you had the full enclosure up on your test run....

Initial impressions on the new motor. It handles the 228 effortlessly. Very smooth operation with FBW. Barely noticeable going in and out of gear. Pretty substantial jump over the F225 in performance, which it should be.

I'm sure the extra HP provides some additional pop out of the hole and a general performance gain across the board. I think that motor is if not the, it is one of the best you can put on a transom. Some vids on the water would be nice to see.

Looks great, congrats! At times, I wish my boat came with an F250 instead of the F225 for the better mid range economy and so forth, but for the price that I paid, I have no complaints. I also rarely ever go over 40 mph to begin with, of which 50+ mph would likely be something my boat wouldn't ever see even if I had the extra power.

I'd be curious to know your old speed/RPM numbers with the F225. I have the same prop 15 1/2 x 17 on my 208 Adventure w/F225 and it's way slower than what your getting.

I actually emailed Grady White a little over a year ago and asked them for the performance data on my boat as I've got a 228 Seafarer and a Yamaha F225, of which they sent this to me. Yours should definitely be a bit better on a 208 Adventure since it's a lighter boat.

You can also go to the below website, which they still have some of the performance data up from the old 208 Adventure's but they don't have it for an F225. They do have it for a F200 as well as an F250, so I'd figure your numbers should probably be somewhere in between the two.

Thanks for that info,I'll see how it works out for my boat and decide whether I need to reprop.
