Finally was able to get past the CAPTCHA verification process and log in. Had me thinking I had never gotten out of computer kindergarten but hopefully I can tread water enough to post reasonable questions. I am in the process of buying a 2000 Voyager 248 w/Yamaha 250OB66. Come Spring I will have the survey and sea trial and then begin this new journey. We last had a Formula 41PC but somehow it grew to be too big (so much glass to wax!) to properly maintain so we are going to try trailering to the big lakes and bays in the NorthEast. I hope the Grady-White factory folks are as helpful as Formula was, so my first question is: does the company monitor this site or are the owners on their own here? Or maybe my first question should be does Grady-White run this forum?

I don't recognize that engine model number. Is the boat a USA model or another country? The motor might be a OX66 type.. On that model year, there should be a tag on the motor bracket with the model and serial number (and date of manufacture)
As far as I know Grady does not run this forum ( I don't know if anyone officially from Grady monitors it either). I am sure the moderator will respond with more info.
In any case, good luck with the survey and hopefully purchase.

Did someone say "attention to detail?" It is an OX66, I need to keep my notes next to me! The dealer is getting me the model # and serial #, I didn't take a picture of the tag when I was checking the boat out. It is a 2 hour ride from the house so I won't be making the run until I can actually do some work on it, not that I want to work on a boat until it is actually mine!

I have a friend with a 1999 248 Voyager with twin Yamaha F150 outboards and I fished out of it on the West Coast of Vancouver Island in Nootka Sound a few years ago and was the reason I switched from a Campion to a 228G Seafarer soon afterwards they have an incredibly smooth ride. The Voyagers are awesome boats I just couldn’t find one local when I was looking, his originally came with twin Honda 130hp outboards that he had over 6000 hours on until he replaced them with the Yamaha’s.

You can call the Grady White factory, in North Carolina, at 252-752-2111. Ask for Customer service, or the tech desk, and they are very helpful at answering anything you might ask. They have a good history of everything they have built, going back quite a few years.

If maintained reasonably, those motors are extremely reliable. On the down side, they are pretty noisy, not very economical and burn more oil than a lot of other 2 strokes. Maintenance is fairly simple too.
