Hi, my brand new Fisherman 257 (7 hours only) has an issue with both engines starting. Engine 1 turns over and starts immediately no problem, but engine 2 (on the starboard side) won’t start unless the battery is on 1+2. It then starts, but if I switch it back over to 2, it dies right away. Any ideas? Both batteries are fully charged we have 12.7 in each battery.

Check to see if both engines are getting their starting power from battery 1(Put BOTH switches to 1 and see if both engines start). Generally this is not how GW wires them. Usually 1 battery is for one engine and house (Electronics, lights, etc), and the other is for one engine only. This way, if your electronics drain your house battery you can start the engines by putting both switches to the other battery or both and then charge the dead side. Sounds to me like yours is wired so that both engines start on 1 and house is 2. Check with your dealer if this is correct. IMO it should be the way I described above and it is a fairly quick and easy fix.

Something is wired incorrectly. If the boat is new, you should contact the dealer.
If you want to poke around a bit, check the no 1 and no 2 battery to make sure there is a black battery cable connecting the two negative terminals together.
I don't think the problem is that simple but it's worth a look see.

You didn't say if it's been this way the whole 7 hours? Assuming yes... look around the battery compartment for a wire not hooked up.
As noted, though, contact your dealer. Let them deal with it if you're not comfortable with electrical stuff.

I'm tossing out a bad battery if there are no wiring issues as something to check. It may be 12.7v with no load but maybe collapsing when one is present? An easy way would be to move the batteries between banks and try to isolate.
Now that you know what is happening, I would not be turning off battery power to a running engine.
