Following Sea in 232 vs 305

I currently run a 305 Express, the boat does awesome going into chop and swells Just put bow down and go...but is a bit squirlley running downhill, need to slow way down to avoid bow steer. A friend has a 330 and he reports the same. I am thinking about going down to a 23 Gulfstream and wondering if I am going to experience the same situation? Or are the hulls different?

With a following sea, you have to trim up pretty high to keep from stuffing the bow and/or bow steer. Retract the tabs completely and trim the engines up - probably higher than you might think. Controlling throttle is another key - backing off on the way down and throttling up on the way back up the hill. You can keep your speed up (usually) if you're on top of things - backing off that throttle a bit on the way down causes the stern to squat for a second or two and, subsequently, lifting the bow. Coming right back on the throttle still keeps the bow up, as well.

Roughly the same size as a 232 is my 240 and I'm quite happy with how it behaves.

My old 330 bow steered worse than either of my 2 marlins the sailfish and the 24 offshore I had weren’t bad at all. The 330 was a handful in following seas.

Is there a good hull in following seas? I do retract the tabs and trim up the OB, but my 270 isn't real fun either in following seas.
