Freedom 235

Looking at getting a brand new 235 and would really like to know where to get a list of options and what they cost. Was quoted 167,000 for a new boat. Seems high but I guess with this crazy world not really.

I chose lots of comfort options for my wife like the companion seat that is electronic and sure shade for the sun. Hardtop etc.

From what I can find base model is about 115,000.

167,000 seem a bit high for a new boat?

wow. Congrats on your choice . I do find it ironic though. Grady discontinued the 228 which you could have bought for $125K ,but you're willing to spend $167 for a dual console boat that is overall bigger - foot longer 6 inches wider and maybe the bow is 1 to 2 feet taller.

I am not questioning your purchase or what you prefer in boats. I am though illustrating Grady can fetch $167 ,000 for a 23 footer and couldn't fetch $125,000 for the next boat down? I know ,I know 2 very different boats but based on price alone one would think the 228 is actually a deal. Enjoy the boat should you order it and congrats!

It is all about what the wife wants. She hated the 226 because of the seating and the lack of space up front. I would have kept my 226 if she liked going on it but she didn't. Also, most of the cost is options that my wife would like, for instance the electric flush toilet instead of a porta potty, the electric companion chair. She also wants the sure shade option for the Florida sun.

When the wife says she wants a boat and likes the 235 and it is a Grady you do what you have to to try and get the boat.

Well all the extra money I had for a boat just went into a condo in Connecticut so our daughter has a nice place to live with her dog while at grad school. It was to good to be true anyway, so now back to just playing golf.

This should be required reading on the RIP Walkaround Thread. THIS is why Freedoms (aka DC's) are selling like mad. We can talk up walkarounds all day and night, but at the end of the day, we all know who's opinion really counts.

My wife and I looked at both the 235 Freedom and 236 Fisherman, but eventually got the 236 Fisherman. I primarially fish and I really did not want the Freedom but my wife wanted the Freedom. I won out this time, but she got the options she wanted (anchor windlass, Seaport blue gel coat color, table). I circled my boat fighting a 12ft hammerhead shark a few months ago thinkining one) why did I hook a shark, and two) the dual console would suck fighting this shark.

I paid 146k for my boat with TT&L, trailer, and about 7k worth of electronics (Garmin 8612xsv, GT51M trandsucer, Garmin radio/antenna, and AIS 800 transceiver). Mine is a 2021 model. We took delivery in February 2021.

I would use this as a baseline for dealer cost and list price. You can configure your boat anyway you want and it will give dealer cost and dealer list. The boating industry is going crazy right now so expect to pay a bit more and wait a bit longer for your ride to arrive. Use this as a guide only.

Only a slight derailment here;

I don't fish, but I have for years wanted, (and tried unsuccessfully by paying for charters) to catch a shark. if I hooked a 12 ft Hammerhead, it would be a highlight that I would always remember.

I know there are not many used boats out there but if you’re patient you can snag one for way less money. Don’t think getting a brand new boat means you won’t have problems. I know of a recent story where a new boat rigging came loose and they had to be towed in. After a bunch of Gelcoat work plus engine tuning and a new trailer, I am still under $80k for a 2015 Freedom 225 I found on Facebook marketplace in January 2021.

I love the color of your boat. What is the Grady name for that color?

I believe it’s “coastal fog”. It’s a light grey that looks blue at times on water.
