If your boat is on a trailer or a lift, and you are in an area experiencing freezing weather, then you should open your seacocks (livewell, raw water, head) to allow any water trapped in the piping or hose above the seacock to drain out. If it freezes the expansion can rupture hoses or even the seacocks, and you won't know about it until you put the boat in the water again.
For those of us in slips, best to lower the engines into the water - it's warmer than the air.
