fuel monitoring system

i bought a 1998 marlin with 1998 yam 250's. the montering guage is only montering one engine. i have read the yamaha manual which explains how to switch the guage to either starboard, port or both. this does not happen when i try it. does any one have any helpful ideas where to start. the previous owner can not be reached to answer question if they ever worked.

If you have a Yamaha multi-function gauge - there are two buttons, pressing one changes mode from P to S to both. Not being in front of gauge, I would say it's MODE. The P or S indicates on screen, don't recall what it says for both. If you go to Yamaha website and find your motor, you can read the motor owners manual for free, if you didn't already. If still not working time to take it to (Yamaha) dealer.

The numbers will add up when working correctly.

What did you problem turn out to be rc?? I have a similar problem, gauge doesn't even show P or PS. It's as if it doesn't see the port engine. Taking sending unit off soon as it stops raining.
