Fuel tank replacement costs

I'm looking at upgrading my 2000 seafarer with a Marlin or sailfish. Price range is putting me at 02-08 years. I've come across very few that have had the fuel tanks replaced already. But I know 15-20year old hulls have tank replacements on the horizon. How much does new fuel tanks affect the asking price, what is it worth? Say most boats are around 80k, a boat with a new fuel tank is selling for 85k, is it worth it? Thanks!!

This may sound odd but a 20 year old hull is still a 20 year old hull even if it has a newer tank, The tank is just one item that may need repairs or replacement. I don't see a new tank adding a lot of value to an older hull in terms of what it cost to replace. For example, do you think that a hull with a rotten transom would be worth more with a newer tank?
The cost of a tank job ( or two as in the Marlin's case) can vary a lot depending on who did the work and what other issues were found during the replacement. New custom tanks will run 10 to 20 dollars a gallon depending on local business costs. Installation can add a few thousand to the job depending on labor rates, any needed structural repairs, fuel line replacements, how easy/difficult it is to remove the old tank , etc.

I just paid about $10k for two new tanks, all hoses and fuel lines, including labor on my 265. Probably could have gotten it cheaper but I wanted it done so I can use the boat this summer. Should have it back this week. This is in Maryland

I'm doing my tanks on 1997 268 Islander.72 gallon and 134 gallon. Easily $4,000 in materials. Probably a $8,000 to $10,000 job considering a bulkhead had to be removed and replaced.

Doing it myself though. Active post here on GG. Going well - starting to put boat back together. Not for the faint of heart though!

I spoke to Young's about a transom job. Current rate is about $10,000.

Older Grady's will likely need both done at some point. As a old-timer friend of mine says: "They are all sinking - only difference is how fast.".
