Fuel Tank Replacement

Ive just been informed that my fuel tank in my 1986 Seafarer will need replacement. It has developed three holes on the top due to corrosion. Ive also been informed that there is no standard tank that will fit and that the tank will need to be fabricated. It is a 96 gallon tank. Do I have any alternatives?

1. Send the tank to a welder and have it repaired
2. Put in a poly tank (no baffles and it will not be a drop in and will degrade resale)
3. Bite the bullet and get a new tank

Unless the rest of the tank is perfect, get a new aluminum tank and coal tar epoxy it.

I replaced mine a few years back. RDS Manufacturing (www.rdsaluminum.com) in Perry FL was the OEM tank manufacturer (actually I believe they had changed names or something over the years). They had the drawings available and sent me a copy to confirm it matched my tank. Had it manufactured and shipped. Removal and replacement was not too bad (on my 87 Overnighter). If all hoses/clamps original, would replace them as well. Good luck.
