Just bought a boat with a Garmin 188c. It also came with a plug for in my house, mapsource bluechart cd version 4.01 a usb data programmer and mapsource data card. I've figured out using the unit but my problem is the chart is for an area just north of my boating area. I spent a few hours trying to figure out how to get the chart that i need to display on my computer so i can download it onto the data card but i'm not having any luck. Anyone out there that could offer suggestions? Thanks in advance

Mapsource will only display map regions for which you have an 'unlock', they are no longer available for purchase. If you can locate an unlock, you might be able to download charts to a card, then display those charts in the unit, but I always had a BlueChart pre-programmed so I never fooled with it. Another option is with a pre-programed BlueChart data card (some are still around, though folks are pretty proud of 'em). What region are you trying to look at ... :?

From all of my research i believe everything you are saying. if nothing is no longer available does it mean this device goes in the trash? My area is Delaware bay and Delaware offshore. I havent even been able to figure out what garmin bluechart map this would be to search for it directly. Thanks

2ndtry, I have a Garmin 182c which I believe uses the same card. I have the MUS504l card that covers Delaware Bay, much of the Jersey shore, DE, MD and more. I moved to South and no longer use this card. If this is what you need, send me your info and you are welcome to it.

THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE UNIT! I don't have an Mapsource 'unlock' for that region, but someone out there does ...

Dan, thank you, thank you, thank you, I received the card you sent me. It is exactly what I needed and works great.
