I have looked every where in my boat. Under the helm. Aft cabin port and starboard access panels. Found the smart pump in the starboard side aft cabin. Not behind the electric panel. Not in the control switch panel. Not in the helm starboard access panel. I don’t have a port access panel. Anyone have new ideas????I need my auto pilot back. Needs to stop saying “searching for autopilot controller”

could be in the space behind the instrument panel; under the electronics pod well; or under the electronics pod "deck" (i stuck my gsd22 up under there). also, i put my heading sensor in the locker in the cabin (you have to look up to see it). you should have something in the helm portside, could be there. i had a 2009. good luck, ron

You say you "found the Smartpump". If the pump has no power feed you will get that error.
Are you looking for the Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) ?
Ideally it would be centerline and low. Follow the wire...

Mine is under the livewell accessible by removing the tackle drawers... Each installer chooses their own location and that's where mine wound up after being moved because of electrical interference (compass would deviate like crazy when I operated the trim tabs). Tracing the cable from the pump may give you hint... Or maybe you can ask the original installer?

Try removing the switch panel on the dash and looking down there. You may have to just try following the wires from either the pump or the NMEA backbone hopefully whoever installed it labeled the wires.

The wires from the pump go into a “hole”. Not traceable.

If the fuse isn’t on the main panel. I wouldn’t know where it is.

there should be an inline fuse at the power source end of the power cable.
Normally it would be connected after the House power switch/breaker.
Sometimes people put a dash switch to power the Autopilot.

I would assume since you have lights that there is power there...but...

Make sure to look way down at the bottom, behind the cabin electrical panel. Mine is down there and very easy to miss. You can also see the bottom of the pop up electronic box from behind that panel. Good Luck!

I opened the electrical panel. Three screws. Swings open. Are u suggesting to remove the whole electrical box? I’m guessing I’ll need to shut off all power to the boat.

auto pilot has its own breaker on the panel.

can't help you find the unit but I'm interested in the problem you are trying to resolve
Your error is displayed on a GHC20 or Garmin MFD or both?

On ghc20. “Searching for auto pilot controller”. Talked to Garmin. They can’t help me w/o knowing what the reactor 40 is “saying”
