Hi everyone, first post here but have lurked for a while.

I have a 2001 Grady 208 with a 07 yami f250, and I have a few questions.

First is the fuel guage, the guage that the boat came with is a faria huge from the old etec that was on there, it never reads full, full tank it might read half to 3/4 depending on the angle of the boat. And the yami guage never reads full either but is likely marginally more accurate than the faria. So yesterday the faria was reading beyond E and the yami had 2 bars. I figured I should fill up just in case and the boat only took 45 gallons, so if this is a 80 gallon tank, I was far from empty. Although I have read on here than because of the design/angle of the tank only 65 is useable? Unsure if that is true. Perhaps my fuel sending unit is going bad? In which case does anyone know what length I need to order from the website that provides aftermarket sending units?

Had another quick one as far as the engine and props go, I have a 15.25x17 on here and the engine will turn 6-6100 with a medium load and engine trimmed up on flat water while doing 45 mph. Cruises at 26mph at 4000rpm, I am thinking I can up pitch it to a 19 and maybe get a 30mph cruise at around 4000, and closer to 50 at wot while still being in the rated rpm range. Maybe I should even go up to a 21 pitch? We'll see. Anyways! Thanks for the help! Much appreciated!

You should have 80+ usable...it sounds like your sending unit is going.

Call GW and get the depth of the tank, then call or visit http://www.wemausa.com They make - IMO - the most reliable senders out there. It goes without saying that replacing the sender is a job for hand or air tools only...no electric or battery powered devices that could spark.

You might be able to turn the 19" prop. had a 208 with a 200 OX 66 back in the day and it turned a 17"prop to 43 mph at 5500 RPM.

If you call or email Grady, they will give you the correct length for your sending unit.

You should be running a 19 inch prop on you 208. I have the same engine on my 226 and turns 5800 rpm with a 17 inch prop. The boat came with a 19 inch prop and would only turn 5400 rpm. You should be able to turn 5700 to 5800 rpm with a 19 on your lighter boat, which is about right.

You don't want to over prop an F250 and a 21 would be too much pitch.
