I have a Seafarer 228 with a grady drive , Has anyone replaced the Plastic drain. I broke mine and was wondering if there is anything better.
thanks
bob
I will follow this as I too have the Gdrive. It is aluminum and as such is a relatively soft metal and then you got galvonic corrision issues with dissimilar metals in sea water. Seems to me, the plastic or nylon is likely the way to go here.
my threads were damaged when i got my boat, so i got a small diameter "snap to close" baitwell plug and found a piece of pipe that it fit into securely. Then i used 5200 to cement the pipe into the grady drive. plastic pipe, plastic baitwell plug, no corrosion issues, and very easy to install and remove after each trip.
good luck,
Jim
