anyone take their 192 offshore much? I'm not talking 75 mile trolling trip but maybe 5-10 miles out. how much can they handle?

I frequently run my 192 from Falmouth or Mashpee (Cape Cod) to the Vineyard and I've run a number of times to Hyannis, Chatham, etc. On any decent day I don't hesitate to take the 192 offshore. If I'd hesitate with the 192 I wouldn't really want to be out there in anything bigger because it wouldn't be comfortable. Boat is solid as a rock.
Like, I'm sure, others, I've been further offshore in smaller boats than the 192. It's not about the boat - it's about knowing you and your boat's abilities, the conditions, the forecast and keeping a weather-eye out. It also has a lot to do with the captain's, and passenger's, comfort level.

Where do you boat? I boat on Cape Cod (and Eastern MA). I got my 192 last year (my father had it for five years before that, so I've used it frequently the past several years and he turned it over to me last year since he's not comfortable going out alone much any more)... he bought it used, it's a 2003 boat, and it's been flawless. 150 Yamaha 2 stroke... plenty of power and decent efficiency (my last boat had a 4 stroke so I was concerned about going back to a 2 stroke, but it's been just fine). Runs very solid for a boat that size. Doesn't use much fuel and I feel secure taking it anywhere (as stated above, depending on conditions, etc.). I've owned many boats over several decades, but none "better" than this 192.
I do most of my boating on lakes here in South Carolina. would like to take it to the coast soon, maybe charlston sc. mine is a 1995 with 150 Yamaha 2 stroke. its not as bad as I was thinking it was going to be on fuel. mine also runs very good. the boat I sold had a 115 Yamaha 4 stroke so I was also very concerned about fuel too.

Yeah I'm sure the boating on the SC coast will be great. You won't have any issues. Just watch the weather (and follow any other smart boating practices you would on the lakes). I've been well offshore numerous times in my 192 and always felt very comfortable (not sure if you have a good radio and GPS for the lakes, but if not you'll want those items for coastal boating).
I have trolled 25 -30 out of Port Canaveral when I had my 192. I really picked my days. It can be done. I think the boat would do a bit better with trim tabs.
