The old 2 smokes weren't too terrible at cruise, but they chugged fuel on the low end by today's standards.
Interesting read. 175 Ocean runners were pricey back then.
 
Ill be pleasantly surprised if I get near those numbers at 3500 RPM loaded down with fuel, ice, and men in 2 fters..LOL
 
Interesting. Just picked up one with HIN date of 595. . .
With the original Yamaha 250.
Rebuilt all 6 carbs. Replaced both thermostats and housings. Shaft seals and rebuilt waterpump. Drained and cleaned fuel tank. Solid transom. We shall see how she does.

Paid 18k cash for boat and motor. Another 6700 for a new trailer. Just have to transfer title and a new registration.
If the bleeding stops at $25k, I need you to help me find my next boat!
 
I'll do what I can. Both of my boats have been purchased thru estate sales. '78 Kencraft and '95 Islander. Both had been sitting for a couple of years but had been well kept by previous owners.
