greasing manual steering on 208

[against the wind]

hello to all.. I went to grease my manual steering on my 1999 adventure 208 OX66 the other day. It looks like the rod that goes though has a bend to it on the primer bulb side that goes into the starboard aft and you cannot pull it all the way out .. Beside dropping the whole motor, is there a way to grease it without dropping motor. thank u

On some boats the cable end under the dash can be taken off and pulled back while disconnecting and pulling out at the motor tube......then clean out the motor tube using a brass 12ga shotgun brush
