Islander vs. Gulfstream
I considered both boats before I bought my Islander (used 1997 w/ new Yamaha twin F150 four strokes).
The Islander has a 8'6" beam. If your trailering it is not considered a wide load. The narrower hull has a finer entry then a 9'6" beam boat and is slightly more efficent. You loose some cabin and cockpit space though. Handles great in a variety of sea conditions.
Lastly the enclosed head is real nice to have vs. having one open in the cabin. Hose and go cleanup and privicy.
