2000 228G Seafarer

All,
I think it's time to replace the molding along the bottom lip of the gunnel. Any ideas for what to use? Ideally, I would like to find some molding with a "J", such that I can slide it up on the bottom of the lip, and then use the adhesive. Also, any suggestions on the adhesive? I'm thinking 3M 4200, but would like some opinions.

Thanks in Advance!

You can order that molding from a Grady dealer. They sell it by the foot

Try Barbour plastics http://www.barbourcorp.com/Grady-White_ ... b-rail.htm, they make it for GW but they use a different rub rail on the new boats so they may not have left. Much cheaper than GW but they don't supply the screws, use your old screws. It comes in two parts, flexible Rubrail with Rigid Stiffener.

Thats what you need for your 228, try buying it from GW , its almost double the price but includes screws.

Barbour will even give you advice on how to fix it on, it's not easy if you are in cold climate, much easier in summer when its hot so the rubrail is soft and flexible, leave it in the sun before you start the job, start at the bow and work your way to the aft.

Your rubrail may look black but its dark blue, you can use black if you like but the blue matches the boat pin stripping.
