I just purchased a 2007 222 from the original owner. Once I decided on a 222 it was a long process, they sell fast. Found one in mint condition curtains around the console, custom hard top, no stress cracks, dry stored entire life, trailer, pretty mint condition. 2007 Yamaha 250, power head and exhaust replaced in 2017 (100 hours on power head, 1000 hours on lower unit). Paid 35k, which I am not sure if that’s a good or Bad deal, but I am very happy with the boat.

I’d love to hear everyone’s opinions on the boat and about any upgrades I should consider. My planned upgrades are:

-starboard over opening on console and flush mount 12” chartplotter or 2 smaller units
-replace radio with fusion radio
-replace speakers
-2nd bilge pump
-under gunnel leds

What a nice find! I wouldn't worry if it was the deal of the century or not. More importantly is the fantastic condition she is in IMO.

Congrats!!

You did fine. I had a 2007 222, and I loved it. I sold it 2.5 years ago. 700+ hours and no exhaust work was done. I listed it for $34.5k, and it sold in less than 2 days for asking. I got a lot of calls, so I think you are good. Mine didn't have curtains or a trailer.

Thanks everyone. Upgrading the chartplotter/sounder next week and then excited to get her out and do some rock fishing in the bay.

I have a 2000 GW 222 that is for sale. I've had it about 3 years and have really enjoyed it. I like the layout and it rides great for a 22' boat. The only reason I'm selling is that my offshore days are over, and I'm looking to buy a smaller bay boat for inshore use. It's listed here if anyone is interested.

So I went with Raymarine Axiom and my old transducer has a different plug, so looks like I’m upgrading transducer as well. The current transducer is transom mounted. Is there any benefit going thru hull or should I just stick with transom mount? Most of my fishing will be in the bay with some near shore fishing targeting wrecks at about 100’

Transom will be less expensive to buy and to install.
Thru hulls usually perform better if installed in the right spot:)
If you know what the current ducer model is, give Raymarine a call.
There may be ( small chance but a chance) that there is a connector converter cable.

Thanks for that recommendation. I actually found the adapter on their website.

Nearing the finish on my first project. Replaced the dash box with black starboard so I could flush mount my 12” axiom and fusion radio. Next I have to repair the screw holes from the hinges, which is something I’ve never done on a boat.

Most folks just fill the holes with resin and a filler and then gel coat to color match.( or they use Marine Tex which will not be the exact color) The correct way to repair and fill screw holes is much more complicated and probably beyond yours and my skill set..
There is an option that you can look at. Instead of filling the holes, use small nuts and bolts (or screws) with color matched screw covers. You probably have some of those already on your boat. You will end up with four caps but they will look like they are original.

I got mine from Pro-Deck

I don't remember what color I chose but it was a bit lighter but looks fine. A call to Pro-Dec might get you a better color match for your hull.

West Marine carries a similar cap but in only white or black but if you have a WM nearby you can at least take a look . The WM caps are made by Fasco Fastener Co.

GW dealers sell a little bottle of gelcoat for touch up. Prob not an exact match but close enough.

I like this option, I just ordered. I figured for $6 it’s worth a shot and if I don’t like then I can go the gel coat route.

Posted this in the electronics section, but figured it was worth a shot here as well.

Upgraded electronics on my GW 222 recently from Furuno to Raymarine Axiom RV. I’m not ready to splurge on the real vision transducer so was going to stick with my Airmar P66 for now. Called Raymarine today and they said I need adapter cable A80492 to make this work, however, looking at pictures online it doesn’t appear that it will mate properly. I have attached a picture of the connector on my transducer. Anyone have any experience with this?
