Hard to line up gimbal end of rod in rod holders

I recently bought a 330 Express. When you put rods with gimbal ends in the rod holders it is very difficult to line up the gimbal end of the rod with the gimbal in the holder. Does anybody else have this problem?

I have the same problem with my rod holders in the gunwales. At least two of the four factory rod holders have bent pins that keep the rod from rotating. I have tried to straighten them a few times but they are vulnerable to bending again. I suspect yours are bent so the alignment is difficult at best.

Haven't had that problem on my 2006. However, the rod holders going up both sides are too close together for my tld 50 and tiagra's. They needed to be spaced more. I'm looking into putting rod holders across the hard top like I had on my sailfish. There was a post about this earlier this year with some pics. Looked great!
