has anyone replaced livewell hose on a 282 Sailfish/

I need to replace the hose that runs from my livewell pump to the livewell inlet. I haven't dug too deeply into it yet but I'm wondering if anyone here has done this job and if you had any advice based on your experience. Does the hose run through a rigging tube or is it simply routed under the deck? I am thinking that i should be able to use a double ended hose barb fitting to connect the new hose to the old one and use the original hose to pull the new hose through. I say "should" because i am never lucky enough to have this happen, my luck runs more towards the hoses getting stuck or the original breaking off halfway through. Thanks in advance for any input.

I did mine last Summer while replacing the fuel tanks. This is a 268 Islander - similar layout to your boat.

There is a PVC rigging tube on the Port side. Look at GW Owners manual. Hose runs thru there forward and pops out under the companion seat in the fuel compartment. Pull the deck up at the helm. My water tank in in there. You may need to take it out to get better access.

Vacuum a pull rope thru old hose and new one. Tape together and pull new one in place.

Thanks for the pictures of your hose replacement. I am a fair distance from the boat right now so i can't check it out in person but i did check the manual and my routing is similar to yours, except the potable water tank is aft and the potable pump is in the fwd bilge under the mid berth. there is a 6" pie plate cover outboard near the live well, I'm not sure if i could reach the inlet to the live well from there. I'd really like to avoid lifting the deck over the fuel tank if possible . I'll be heading over to the boat later this week and give it a closer look then.

Not necessary. Does nothing for you. You need to take the deck up on the step-up to the helm. You have access thru the hatch to the live well. Much easier with the tank out but I think you can do it.

There is no removable section up on the helm on my boat, hopefully there is good access through the pie plate.

On my boat the compartment on the port side is split into a live well on outboard side and drink cooler on the inboard side. It's a long reach into the opening to get to the live well fill. Your boat may be different. Maybe pie plate.

Where does the water come into the live well? Is it close to the step? May be access under companion seat if you have a cabinet there.

i would use a double male fitting and use the old hose to pull the new hose. i just did this with the fill hose for my fuel tank. i would also suggest drilling a screw into each hose and fitting so it cant pull off. then when done, just cut the end off and you are good to go

This is exactly what I'm hoping to do, Saturday is gonna be the day. Any advice on what to look for ina replacement hose??

to close this out for anyone who may stumble upon this thread in the future the access to the inlet connection to the live well is from the mid berth. If you remove the panel on the aft bulkhead for the mid berth you access the sewage holding tank and the inlet to the livewell is easily reached from there. i used the double ended hose barb with a couple screws through each hose into the hose barb and it yanked through easily enough. I'm glad to have put that one on the "done" list.

I did not take any pictures, i was working solo and had plenty to keep me busy, i never thought to take any photos.
