Head Pump Out

So my macerator pump does not work, hasn't since I bought the boat. Before tearing into it, I'd like to pump it out at a marina with that capability. My question is, do I need any adaptors or hoses for this, or do you simply but the pump out station's hose in the access point and it pumps it out?

every pump out station I have been to has had the appropriate adapter as well as couple of other different size ones.

Pump it out, add more fresh water thru toilet and into tank and pump out. Do it several times. What's your plan for the macerator? I assume it's a Grocco in-tank model.

As hookup says, at pump out station also flush by pushing water in through pump out opening, fresh water hose in to add some water then sucki tall out again a few times to get bottom stale stuff to move and out. That's how they did at our marina suction hose in one hand and fresh water hose on side, then switch and fill/rinse and then suck again.... it keeps it clean. And flush twice every time someone uses it so you fill it up faster and get more water in there. Drawback is that you have to pump out more often, but it stays clean.

The real dellima is what to do if its a Grocco macerator. When they work, and they do for a long time, they are a great pump. Unfortunately they are expensive and problematic to repair. I have not had any luck repairing mine and gave up. Problem is you put it back together and it might work for a while and then crap out. New replacement is easy but expensive fix.

I switched to a Jabsco macerator but that gives me some trouble from time to time. Looses prime and impeller has to be wet down. At least it's not sitting in the tank!

I'd ready a plan. Have 4-5 gallons of bleach and water or favorite cleaner for this job ready. Mate on the deck with the pump out get what you can out. Get as much cleaning solution down the head and pump that out. If you have time, fill the head up 1/2 way with the cleaning solution and take the boat for a good ride, let the head slosh around. Do the same at the dock again (pump, clean and final pump).

So right now the system is popping a fuse when you hit the level or pump button. The wiring on top of the tank is all very corroded so I really don’t know if the pump is good. Plan is to pull the tank, test pump. If it works, install and rewire. If it doesn’t work then figure out if I want to replace the original, or copy some of the of the setups I’ve seen here.

Hookup1, you say you have occasional priming issues. I can't determine from your photo, but Does the discharge hose run directly to a below-water-line seacock? If yes, you may likely benefit from a vented loop.

I am literally elbows deep, and in pain, in rigging in a Jabsco macerator and Jabsco Y valve using existing tank. I will post pix when done. I am mounting things differently than Hookup.

This solution is good if you have easy access to a pumpout and you don't wait until November when they are all closed to pumpout .....

Popping breaker there is a good chance that one of the level sense floats broke off and is jammed in the blade.

That is an old photo. Currently it has a vented loop. Doesn't seem to matter. The pump can drain. After sitting it acts up. It's not back pressure. The best way to install this is to reduce the amount of "lift" and angle hoses to keep the impeller wet. Not difficult to open up and prime. Relatively clean. By the way the silicone hoses make taking things apart much easier.
