Al of a sudden my head smells like vomit. Bought to 2008 330 Express and no odors until this morning when my wife used the head. The smell wages through the boat. Flushed the head a few times and being a freshwater system I am.a bit surprised. Any ideas? I plan on draining the freshwater tank and refilling. Thoughts?

the anode in the water heater will stink up if it is deteriorating. also the fresh water tank if not treated properly. look for potential dead critters any where. also, don't discount the possibility someone did vomit in your head and not tell you .. good luck, ron

It could be that your holding tank vent is clogged, It runs out the starboard side and sometimes has a filter in line. You can get to it thru the aft cabin starboard side removable panel. There is a screen on the thru hull that is designed to keep bugs out and dirt dobbers often clog it up. Try spraying water or other liquid into it from the outside if you can't, or don't want to, do it from the inside. Unless your fresh water is really bad, I doubt that is the problem.

i use this for cleaning http://www.camco.net/spring-fresh-1-gallon-bilingual-40207

you can use the camco water treatment or aquabon treatment (expensive, but really good) to prevent the water from turning. i've used both, but switched a few years ago to a couple oz of pure bleach and baking soda mixed with water and added to the freshwater tank. WM employee told me about it and it has worked great. i'm guessing bleach kills bacteria etc and baking soda stabilizes it. i've found that it does not burn off in the high heat of summer (in NJ at least). i had a 44 gallon tank so adjust accordingly. i DO NOT consider the freshwater tank to be potable.

good luck, ron

If you think the smell might be coming up from the holding tank, try West Marine’s ExterminOdor. It’s inexpensive and easy to use.
