I plan on doing a 8-10hr single day run from Tampa area to middle keys.

my concern is for hearing protection and communications with 2 onboard crew.

Has anyone used any sort of wireless (perhaps Bluetooth) over the ear protection / communication devices?

thanks in advance.

interesting question. There is an intercom feature on newer I Phones but I think it needs a network to operate, not Bluetooth. I will have to do some research

I found the following. It has some limitations like run time and the need to probably plug your other ear. It is also costly .

I just googled for wireless intercoms and this was one of the first hits. I didn't do any additional searching

Curious as why the need for hearing protection?? Been boating for a while now and never noticed my boat being noisy or having trouble talking with my crew.

Inquiring minds???

If you are looking for an industrial grade workhorse and serious ear protection I have worn these before on a construction site. They work really really good. bit on the expensive side but a good quality 3M product. I must warn though they are a bit heavy to be wearing that long, especially bouncing around.

The tournament crews on the big sportfish rigs use headsets. They use them to coordinate the crew in the cockpit with the Captain on the bridge or the spotter in the tower.
