Helm Chair Modification 33 Express

It has always been an issue with me the lack of room in the helm for people to move around when you have center helm location. We use our boat for fishing and diving but also have many outings overnight at the transients docks at many Marinas. We have over 1300 hours on our '08 Grady. So we use it!
I finally came up with a solution when we're docked or anchored to alleviate the problem.
I bought a teak 19" round table. Cut the legs off. I installed a 4" toilet flange on the bottom and a piece of 3" PVC. I now remove the helm seat (very simple) and install the table. Works great.
Secondly a took a 5 gallon bucket put all my dive weights in the bottom. I then notched out for the handle and put the removed helm seat in the corner in the cockpit. It's the best seat in the house..

Not for everyone but it works for me!

Very nice. Where did you get he blue covers for armrest and back for the helm chair. It is the same one I have and I like that idea!

I like that. Inexpensive and uses a things already on the boat.
I still don't understand the center helm on the GWs. The expresses would be so much nicer with a side helm, but that is just me.....

I had the same problem with my 330 and the helm seat and what i did was i removed the arm rests and gave me much more room i thought it would.
You table idea is a different story, i like it.

I did the same thing two years ago. Instead of buying a teak table top, I simply drilled a hole on the center of the teak pad we have on the floor of that space on the way back to the aft cabin. A single SS bolt holds it so securely you could stand on this table. This photo is a recent one with our Christmas lights and all. Makes the 33 Grady have a salon like on a 42 footer!
