Helm seats

Can someone recommend replacement helm seats for a 228 Seafarer ?
Not much space as it is between the original seats.
Wanting something with a high back.

I have a 2001 and the seats are plastic 20 1/4 wide with a 18" back.
Must have been replaced by previous owner.
Your boat looks like mine with dark curtains.

The armrests, outside to outside are 22 1/2". Seat is 16 3/4" at its widest point, seat back is 18" and including hand hold, overall it's 20"

Those arm rests can be removed if desired, or cut off the inside ones. Just an idea....

Those look intriguing---questions

1. Looks like less room between seat and helm---even less than my Grady ladder back originals
2. With seat back flipped-other way--how far back are you sitting? Looks like it may be lower than the ladder back

The helm seat is full forward.
these seats have the same size as the Pompanette, but have no armrests, which gives a little more space between the seats.

Those seats are great for tight quarters. Good choice...

I was looking at Helm seats, not that I need them, but was curious.. heh.. wow.. the prices!

I did see "pontoon seats" that were reasonable and looked identical to the 1000+ ones... just not sure if they truly ARE identical.. but... may try searching for pontoon helm seats and see if they are.

I know.. not a "grady" seat.. but they looked the same but a LOT less expensive... heh

The prob with the stock Pompanette seats are the arms. They really make it hard to maneuver through the helm area especially on the smaller walks. I think those flip seats are the ticket. Would be cool if they lock, you could flip forward and use as a helm leaning post when driving. You may even be able to move them closer to the port and starboard and provide even more passage way room.

I totally agree, the armrest is a problem, especially if you wear suspenders, like me. In addition, it is not possible to rotate the pompanette on the 2006 seafarer without disassembly.
Springfield flip back was the solution for me, especially for fishing in the shade, or in the rain

KY Grady, I want to remove the ladder back on the jump seat. Did you have to pull the draw under the port seat to get at the nuts? The screws just spin on mine.

Yes you do and pull the insert also. Just pulling the drawer doesn't get you to it, the liner has to come out also to access the the nuts on the backside.

KY Grady,

How did you remove the ladder back from the bench seat? I want to remove mine but the screws just spin. Did you have to pull the draw and enclosure to get inside ?
