During a recent electronics upgrade the tech lost. misplaced, whatever our TPI2000 Bennett Trim Position Indicator. The part has been discontinued by Bennett. I have searched EBAY with no luck. My questions is, is there a Bennett Trim Indicator will replace the TPI2000 and the trim switch without a ton of rewiring or changing the position sending units on the pistons? It appears that the EIC001-H or the OBI9000-H may work but don't want to spend $$$ and not have something that works. We have a hydraulic trim system. Anyone been through this exercise?

I have emailed Bennett (Now purchased by Yamaha) multiple times and been put on hold with their tech service for way too long.

TPI2000 Trim Tab Position Indicator (which I no longer have) and current activator switch

Can I replace both of the above with this:

EIC001-H

or this:

OBI9000-H

Thanks!

Did you try the email
BMI_Info@Yamaha-motor.com

I am sorry to hear that support it tough to get. In the past Bennett has been a model of excellent support. RIP Tabman.

I have emailed at least 5 times and received a receipt that the email was read each time yet no response.

I'd give them another shot on the phone. They're really your best source to make 100% sure it'll work. I imagine that, like most in the marine industry, they are extremely busy helping customers. Be patient and wait your turn :) But, seriously, call them again - just do something else while you have them on speaker.

I asked about that July 2020 and got this message back.

Mr. Stevens,
Thank you for contacting us with your email.
The TPI2000 system has been discontinued for some time now, so your best choice will be to retrofit one of the following Classic Hydraulic trim tab indicator controls on yourvessel:
  • AUTOTRIM PRO CONTROL (AP000A1HA + ATPSENSTD, $695.50 + $89.88 USD = $785.38 USD TOTAL,https://bennetttrimtabs.com/atp/) – requires replacement of helm controls, wire harness & installation of Upper Hinge Sensor Coils & Sensor Rods in actuators (one per side).
  • ELECTRONIC INDICATOR CONTROL (EIC5000, $426.93 USD,https://bennetttrimtabs.com/product/electronic-indicator-control-kit/) – requires replacement of helm controls, wire harness & installation of Upper Hinge Sensor Coils & Sensor Rods in actuators (one per side).
You can Special Order them from any of your local marine dealers, catalog &/or Internet retailers. Please use our “WHERE TO BUY” webpage (https://bennetttrimtabs.com/find-a-dealer/) to locate someone in your area that will be able to help you with your Special Order(we are NOT setup for direct sales of our products).

If you have any further questions &/or issues, please feel free to contact us again.

Regards,

M.J. Thomas

Mr. Smith... If you still need this TPI... I believe I have one "new - in box" that has surfaced as I am cleaning my garage and finding all sorts of excess boat parts I originally purchased for my restoration project(s) then never used. Please drop me a note and let me know!

Best regards,

I bought it back when I recall list price was $400+ and I thought I got a great deal at $260 (clearance tag still on it) at Worst Marine when they were closing them out. How's does $250 plus whatever USPS Priority 3-day postage sound to you?

Will do in the AM.. Packaging (as yet unopened) indicates it's the complete install kit including the indicator, trim tab cylinder upper hinge replacement with sensor, and TPI sensor cable

Were you able to confirm this is the TPI you need from the pictures or do you need any additional information? Best regards, M. Ford
