In high winds or strong current, don't try to go straight into the slip and chance being pushed into your neighbors boat.
Instead, drive upwind/current close to your slip, put your boat in neutral and let the wind/current push you until you lay the side of your boat against the piling.
Then use your motor to pivot against the piling until you are straight, then just drive into the slip.

Try this...go down to the dock in light wind and current conditions when no one is around and dock it several times. There is no magic pill other than what has already been said. It really is a matter of feel. Just one other "skill" I might add, learn to pivot the boat: backing up with engine hard to port or starboard, in neutral cut the wheel to the opposite direction first and then bump it into forward. Sometimes that will be enough to swing the stern a little quicker in the direction you want it to go. Try this in open water not at the dock. Every time you dock it will be different-don't panic, everybody has gone through the same learning curve.
