Thanks Richie, that's what i thought too, but never comes out the way i would like to.

No kidding.....I think the key is lining things up level so when you replace the piece you cut out, it falls in like a jig saw puzzle...then fair the seam....putting in a nice wide backing strip that will span both pieces generously should help get a really strong bond and keep it from moving. I'm going to grind the back of each piece, glue and screw in the strip, and then replace the piece.

I was surfing THT the other night and saw a Yellowfin build where the guy sprayed the entire deck with Line-x....it came out awesome.....you will never see the bond line if you do that and the choice of colors is amazing....I tried looking to see if a Line-x rep does marine stuff in the CT area, but didn't see anything but truck beds.....the guy that did the YF is in Florida...too bad.....may be a very nice alternative to fairing and painting/gelcoating. Cost a little more, but a real savings in labor.

I actually exchange some PMs with the guy long time ago. From what i remember(i was gonna do the V-20 like that) he told me that is the same material as the truck stuff, no marine version and it was holding up very well. He had done another boat before the Yellowfin.

Really?? his discussion on the website on his build a few months ago mentioned all kinds of stuff regarding a new formulation and all that.....and he has a ton of boat spraying experience....but if its all the same chemistry , hell...i''ll prep it and just have the local guy spray it...dont you think it looks good????

Yes it does look good. I remember him telling me that he had to thin the liner material to be used in a boat, but basically is the same material as the truck liner.

P.S, i searched my PMs from back then(more than a year), but i did not keep it for reference. :bang :bang :bang
