Hours on F225's?

I've only heard good things about the long life of Yamaha four strokes. I have 450 hours on mine, no problems.

I'm curious about the experience of others, especially with high hours.

The service manager for our local GW dealership spoke at our club meeting last fall and he told of some engines (I believe F 225's) the Navy replaced on one of their go-fast boats that had ~ 7k hours. They still ran but the Navy just decided it was time to replace them. That being said, I've heard it's reasonable to expect 5k if they are properly maintained.

I have just under 400 trouble free hours on my F 150.

~900 on my Marlin. Buddy I fish with has about 1000 on his 33. Just basic maintenance on all four. (knock on wood)

400+ on my twin 2002 225 hps and never a problem. First turn of the key everytime. Brother-in-law has twin 150's on his charter boat in Floriday with over 1,000 hris in less than 3 winters and never a problem.

491 perfect hours on my F225 (behind a 228). Here's highlights of my maintenance program: I change the water pump + zincs in even years and thermostats and spark plugs in odd years. Oil changed every 50 hours with oil filter changes every other oil change (~100 hrs.). Annually change the 10 micron blue Fuel Filter filled with Sea Foam. Boat stored on a lift. Love the thing! Just wish I could use it more...

almost 700 hours on mine...no problems, other than it's really, really cold right now.

13 flawless hrs. on hpdi's :lol: maybe get more time on them this season if fuel stays low.

I have about 700hrs on mine....480 of those hours in the last 2 seasons, so I run my F225's hard. No issues so far. A friend of mine has just under 2000hrs and they are running strong. Hoping to get 10 more years out of mine...I have faith in them!!

I had to reset my logmeter twice. It stops at 9999 miles. So far, I think I am at about 24,000 miles in a little over 3 years.
