How big an issue?

Not sure why no one has mentioned it yet, but biggest worry are those 350’s. I’ve been looking for a similar Grady and am having a hard time finding them with 300’s. Been doing lots of research on the 350’s and they just aren’t worth the trouble. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Yamaha fan, but they just are bad engines all around. Who want to replace flywheels and worry about broken crank shafts!!!! For the life of the motors.

What ever you use make sure u make a spacer for the motor so it doesn’t crush the plate and distort up the plate and in time caulk shrinks back a little and let’s water in.

@Summertop511 that is actually a super nice job. I may need to go that route instead. I think it looks cleaner and also adheres to the point that Half mentioned. I do not think SS is a bad move, I think better than the thinner stuff ONLY because we are all lazy and by the time we go, "yep.. time to replace it"... it usually means we have let it go too far. It is not as easy as other anodes.. I mean, point in case.. the engine anodes on my engines had not been replaced in God knows how long.. so you can bet the cap was useless, to a degree.

Your method might be a better alternative, in the long run.
