How much 1/2" anchor line fits in the Grady-White marlin 300 anchor box?

Yes sir, it may be for sale again sometime. I never really took it off the market but never advertised anywhere but here. Had a guy come to look at her 6-8 months ago and his surveyor claimed there was all kinds of damage. I had a glass guy come out to do repairs and my guy didn't find anything like the surveyor stated so I'm going to chase some wahoo this winter and think about selling again in the spring/summer.
Family Tradition,
See you out there this winter. Mines a redone 95 painted ice blue hull and cloud white top. White 300 zukes. Boats name is Knot Finished
Launch at Mayport

Update: Even though i'm having a trolling motor with spot lock installed on it, I still would like to have ground tackle available. I'm going to put L shaped hooks on the front of the hardstop struts. I still have to do the math but it should hold a ton of half inch anchor line. It will lay below the widshield and should stay pretty secure. I'll also use two polyballs... 1 for retrieving the anchor and the other ready to deploy should need to get off the hook quickly. Am I overlooking anything?

So you want to coil the rope on the L-Hooks?
Honestly, that is not what i would like to have on my boat, first for safety reasons and then the flopping rope would drive me nuts and third i guess that not a lot of rope will stay there.Ex owner hadtwo coils of docking line on the front legof the hardtop and i wanted to keep it like this, but if a bit choppy the coils moved and "banged" against the hardtop pipe what drove me nuts.
However it may work for like 200-300 ft of rope, just do the math after measuring the exact distance between the two hooks, every wrap will be about 5-6ft so you would need 50 wraps for 300ft, but you need large hooks for the size of 25 wraps of half inch line on each hook. I suggest you to make a model and test it before at home.

Yes, either two poly balls or one poly ball and you use one fender as marker buoy if you have to drop the line quickly, thats what i do as i don't want a second poly ball occupying space.

I still insist that a right sized bucket containing rope, chain, and anchor secured with a net above to avoid that anchor or chain jump out of the bucket and strapped down, either above the hatch or on the floor in front of the bench is the much better and useful solution as you just bring the bucket aboard if you plan to go to the canyons, the other days you leave it at home.

Thanks for the response Chris. Good advice! I'm always looking for better ways to manage my equipment. I'm surprised that Grady hasn't considered deep water anchoring in such capable boats. Unfortunately I don't pick up my boat until april, so I can't really measure anything or look for solutions.
I have 2000' of rode, 40' of chain and a 22lb danforth in my garage that we used on my friend's 29 Aquasport. Takes 2 guys carry it, and we just leave the tote on the deck in the cockpit and run the line w/ anchor and chain to the bow. It works, but gets in the way. I'm not ready to throw my hands up yet... I'll be thinking! lol

I think that's an interesting idea with storing the rope on the front hardtop legs. Very thoughtful, actually!

I agree with the above though - watch the angle of the vertical "L"... you don't want to fall on that! And, probably would be good to make it out of 2" tubing with a rounded top end... or maybe even a small cap plate that fits onto the top end of the L.

Trying it at home is a great idea, too. And that would be easy enough to build out of some 2x's.

Oh... you know what would be cool? Make the 90* part of the L a lockable hinge of some sort. That way, when you want to deploy the rope, you "open up" the L and the rope slides off easier.

Thanks for the input!
As soon as I take possession of the boat, this will be one of the first things I look into. I like the idea of locking hinges so I can just let it fall to the deck. When I get some time I'm going to lay out the rope 6 feet wide and see how thick the pile is and see how deep and wide I need to make the hangers. I can weld whatever size hangers I need, I just need to work out the hinge.
Also, they have to be held on to the hard top strut with a removable bracket so I can take them off. I'm also not too worried about it bouncing around in bad weather as I can always lash it down tight if need be. I'll post my progress.✌️
