Upgrading to a 285. Previous boat (236) hull color was sea glass, looking for a change. Considering :
- white
- ocean mist
- celestial

Not a lot of boats at the dealer to look at, limited colors.
Thank you.

Are the current non standard color options paint or gel coat? If paint , I would lean towards the Grady off white gel coat

I believe all colors are gelcoat now. I'd still go with the standard white. Too many colored hulls either show scratches, fade (easier to see than white which does as well) and just don't look great after a few years. Just my humble opinion...

I just looked at the 2022 brochure and it does state gelcoat colors as an option.

Ocean mist is a newer color than celestial, both are gel coat. I like the look of Ocean mist ( very light ), but fading concerns me.

How about going with the standard hull color and then wrapping it n the color of your choice?

Assuming the following is true: get any color you like, no fading/chalking, no worries about resale issues due to color choice, no ghosting, hull will be like new if/when the wrap is peeled.

I am not familiar with wrap, but I assume the above is true. If it is not true, then ignore my thoughts.

I'm considering painting my hardtop structure. I have the top off and its not a stretch to pull it off and have it painted.

Do any of your color choices have t-top structure painted or painted a different color?

Ocean mist looks a lot like the Aqua Mist from Alexseal. Maybe a little more blue vs green. I painted my Mako this color 12 years ago and just did my new console and leaning post. It almost looks like a white in certain lighting.

Was cleaning and waxing my boat today and next to me was a couple of 2019 grey hulls. Both had some scratches and could see the white beneath. I was right on top of them so maybe worse but man I'd be upset if they were my boat.

Ignoring the nightmare of trying to keep it perfect (and therefore just going with factory color), between celestial and ocean I would choose ocean.

If you saw white underneath the scratches, I would suspect that the hull was painted. That assumes that Grady sprays the mold with the appropriate color before laying up the fiberglass. The fiberglass with resin would not look white if exposed I think.
I vaguely remember in the early days of the pandemic. Maybe I dreamed that.
