I’m considering buying this 24’i/b offshore but there is hull damage there is a large deflection at the mid section and some big gouges on the port side any thoughts on the damage ?

Where is the deflection? On the hull or on the deck?

The deck is common but without additional inspection you can't determine if there is structural (stringers or bulkhead) damage.

The hull gouges are no big deal in the scheme of things. It depends on how picky you are about how the repair looks.

That said, it's often the things you can't see that can bite you:)
If you are serious, get a survey. I am sure that will turn up more issues.

The gouges are really minor and can be easily fixed. The hill deflection is something else. I’d pass on it and find something else or get the owner to get all fixed prior to buying.

gouges are nothing.

But is that a giant crack under the thru hull? and the "deflection" is to the right of that just above the paint line?
I would not take that if it was free. RUN!

I want to thank all of you for your great advice all my other boats were wooden and I like the Grady white hulls but I know nothing about fiberglass boats I’m going to pass on that one

Have never seen a crack like that in an area like that. Can only assume freezing caused it to crack there due to water penetration from a leaky thru hull....

I’m looking at the pictures :
What I see is normal things, you’re gonna see on an old boat.
Deflection ? What is a deflection ?
crack at the thru hull ? I see what appears to be a stain from whatever has been draining by that thru hull. I see a cheap original plastic thru hull that needs to be replaced.
Im sure there’s going to be hoses and other thru hulls that will need to be replaced.

it’s an old boat ! It’s probably being sold very cheap, right ?

Stern drive ? Is that what you mean ?
stern drives require much more maintenance - be aware of that ….

Looks like something that has been draining out of that thru hull - I don’t see a crack
Zoom in on the thru hull

Exactly what is a deflection ?

the plastic thru hulls - this is an old boat…

Yeah, maybe not a crack. Some goo building up a layer it seems.

I also couldn't tell if it was a crack. It would be a strange place for a crack especially since the presence of a though hull means there is no bulkhead at that point.
I don't buy the freezing water idea as a possible cause either.
