Howdy
Is this an electric pump for the SeaStar hydraulic steering? I can’t seem to find it referenced anywhere....
It is in poor condition and I want to replace it, or have a unit ready when it does die.

What year and model boat? Most did not come with hydraulic power steering assist. It was only an option on some of the bigger boats. That could be an autopilot pump.

It’s a 99 Marlin, it does have a Sitex autopilot that is useless....

That is probably the pump for the defunct autopilot. That boat did not come with power assist steering, very few do since the hydraulic system is perfectly capable of turning the motors easily, without assist. My 06 Express had it as an option, my 07 does not. None of my friends Marlins have power assist.

The power assist unit for the Seastar on my Marlin is behind the starboard kick panel at the helm. It is a fairly large pump unit. I agree that looks to be the autopilot.

Thanks gents, seems like I don’t need to worry about a replacement in this case.
