richie rich, on the 360 cc:

Grady is still using alum for the frame, powdercoated, just not anodized and not tube shaped. I asked about making the frame from fiberglass (so as not to have to handle peeling powdercoat down the road, the reply was that it would be too heavy if glass.

The top is molded instead of the usual board shape cored fiberglass.

And the show prices had the red slash line thru them so no point in taking notes as I usually do.

The show on weekends is the usual carnival/street fare atmosphere with strollers, pool noodles, pretzels, popcorn, tap beer, and many too young kids, several of which passed right thur my legs ! (Some) parents must think boat show is trip to playland. The boat exhibits see the most in "let's play house". Last year was less of an issue same time of the day, I think the warmer sunny day weather brought them out in hoards. Next year I'll pray for snow and 15 deg day.

Boat shows are no place for children under 12 or 54 inches tall, in my opinion. That's what sitters need part time work for.

Can't do serious talk at show on the "Gradys in Playland" atmoshere which had a busy exhibit, too bad, factory heads were there and the senior Lieblin (sp) who I have enjoyed speaking with in the past. When I left by noon the carnival was swinging and building, can't imagine 3:00PM scene. Same I found with the other boat exhibits, less so than Grady just because more were there and perhaps also Grady has become less of a fishing focused boat??

Then again with respect to street fare atmosphere, I didn't see one fishing rod for sale. Plenty of sham-wows and pool noodles. So it all fits in.

I'm just venting, and waiting for spring!

Was the real Sham Wow guy there, or an apprentice? If I'm going to watch a demonstration, I want the real deal  Yeah, I've been through the jungle gym at the boat shows before....trying to seriously evaluate a boat when 5 kids are jumping around down in the V-birth just makes me want to get up and leave. And parents just don't G A S because its entertainment for the kids for a day.

I thought the top you were describing was a cored glass frame, not aluminum. Not sure how a glass frame would be heavier than an enclosed aluminum unless the frame was solid glass or wood core.....a core of DVC and 2 layers of glass would be plenty strong and light....hell, they make entire boats out of that scenario....too bad...they can make a lot of nice cureves using cored glass.

They have a boat show in Hartford next week, but its pretty small.....GW usually has a good showing but competition is limited...lots of smaller fun boats and bass boats...a few Hydras and BW's....the show in Boston is better, probably closer to Javitts in size....more sailboats and picnic style cruisers as well....I really like those...just need a cool million and I'm all set!
I'll have to make the drive...
Thanks for the update guys.

You said it! That was the story all right.

On the 36cc console, safety glass sides and front offer a comanding view (no canvas), molded top including eec box, and where there would be a tube frame holding everything up and together, is now box shape alum powder coated framing.

Can't describe it better, a photo is needed.

Can you reach up and wipe dew off the glass under way on that 36 CC? Looks like its about 4 ft away ! A step ladder may be needed looking at pictures of it, or a loooooooooooooong squeegee !

Tiara/Pursuit is a great boat. Good luck on a trade in George !

Pete, if i would trade my boat in would most likely go with the 36 or 42 Yellowfin, not many amenities, just a hard core fishing machine. I still don't like the non skid though, is a dig draw back for me. We called Wilie(sp), owner of Yellowfin, to ask about the speed with twin F350's, he said 59-61 WOT, 40-45 cruise. I don't know yet, i might wait for the F450 or F500, i was never a bid fan of triple outboards.

Yellowfin is an excellent boat. Reminds me of a Fountain style hull with the step design. Nice to cut through chop at super high speeds and stay real stable. Plenty of room on teat deck for sure !
